What if I can't schedule a meeting with my advisor?
You can always meet with the other advisor. They are both happy to work with you to help solve problems, sign forms, and just listen.
When should I drop a class?
If you are having problems in class or in your personal life, and your grades are bad (or are going to be bad) come talk to your advisor. Be honest. They are not your parents. (Not that you shouldn't tell your parents the truth.) Don't try to make the situation look better than it is. Tell your advisor the situation and see if he can help you find a solution, before you get several poor grades or get dismissed. (Possible solutions include - get a tutor, create a study group, improve your study habits, sit in the front of class, talk to the instructor, drop the class, reduce your hours at work, drop all courses due to severe health problems, etc.) Your advisor can help you decide on the best option. Dropping a class is not always that option.
You can read information in the 2003-2004 College of Agriculture's Student Handbook. Read the section on "Adding/Dropping Classes."
When should I meet with my advisor to plan enrollment for the next semester?
Current students should schedule a meeting a couple weeks prior to the time that they can enroll.

How do I find the room where my class meets? I only see an abbreviation (S) on my schedule?
There is a building designation page at http://courses.ksu.edu/fall2004/information/format.htm that shows all campus building abbreviations.
When you are on the enrollment page (Line Schedule) on the web (such as the one for fall 2004 - http://courses.ksu.edu/fall2004/schedule.html) and you are looking at a course such as ATM160 it will show the room that it is supposed to be taught in. In most cases if you click on the room it will show a picture of the building. Under the name on that page is usually a link to a campus map, showing the building.

How can I get reinstated if I am dismissed from K-State?
The information below is from the College of Agriculture's Student Handbook. Read the section on "Reinstatement Procedures."
REINSTATEMENT PROCEDURES
A dismissed student will be readmitted to enroll in the College of Agriculture only when approved for readmission by the Academic Standards Committee of the College of Agriculture. Petition forms for reinstatement are available from Waters 119. The Academic Standards Committee considers it essential that the dismissed student confer with his or her academic adviser before completing the Petition for Reinstatement. The adviser’s assistance should be sought regarding what can be done to improve academic performance, a schedule of classes for the semester if reinstatement is granted, and estimated grades for the semester.
Normally, a student must wait at least two semester before they will be considered for reinstatement. Please note that reinstatement in the semester following dismissal is the exception rather than the rule. If you choose to petition for reinstatement in this circumstance, you should be prepared to show to both your adviser and the Academic Standards Committee unusual or extraordinary reasons why an exception should be made in your case.
Applicants planning to petition for reinstatement in the College of Agriculture must complete and return the petition to Waters Hall, Room 119, at least five working days before the Academic Standards Committee meets. The Academic Standards Committee generally meets the first day of registration and fee payment for the fall, spring, and summer terms. Additional midterm meetings are scheduled during the fall and summer terms. Write or call the Office of Ag Academic Programs, 119 Waters Hall-KSU, Manhattan, KS 66506-4015 (Telephone 532-5736) for dates of future meeting times.
When your completed petition is received by the College of Agriculture, you will be given a 15-minute appointment with the College’s Academic Standards Committee. The faculty members who comprise the committee will have reviewed your petition and records prior to your conference. They will be interested in reasons why you desire a college education, factors which led to your dismissal and changes you have or will make to insure your future academic success. Based upon your responses to their questions, the Committee will then determine your student status. You will be notified of the Committee’s decision during your appointment.
When can K-State dismiss me due to poor grades?
The best place to get accurate information is from the College of Agriculture's Student Handbook. Read the section on "Academic Warning and Dismissal."
If you are having problems in class or in your personal life, and your grades are bad (or are going to be bad) come talk to your advisor. Be honest. They are not your parents. I heard that a change has been made in the curriculum (program requirements) for Agricultural Education. Can I choose to use the new program requirements?
A major change was made for new students that are enrolled in the fall 2004. Current students can change to the new curriculum if it works better for them. Some current students have already decided to change because it works better for them. If you choose to use the curriculum you have to follow all of the new rules. (You can't use some from the new and some from the old.)
It does eliminate ACCTG231, and either AGEC308 or AGEC318 (only need one), and IMSE250 & IMSE251.
But it added HORT350 or HORT570 (instead of the general hort/agron requirement), and IMSE252 (welding), and there is much more structure to the 15 hours of (3 more than it was before) agricultural electives.
The new curriculum guide is online at http://coe.ksu.edu/ageducation/programrequirements-new.html
You can print it as a Word document or as a pdf file. There are also interactive pages that you can follow. (Hopefully it is fairly accurate.)
Meet with your advisor before you make this decision.
