Advising        

Expectations of Students

  • Initiate contact and get to know your advisor.
  • Be prepared for advisement sessions.
  • Develop a plan of study and use it in the enrollment process.
  • The advisor can help determine options, but the student will have to make decisions.
  • Be honest about academic progress to allow advisors to provide assistance.
  • Schedule appointments with your advisor prior to the day you need to enroll, drop classes, etc.
  • Students are responsible for their program of study and success.

 

Expectations of Faculty

  • Both advisors are in the office most days. It will be helpful to contact your advisor and set up an appointment.
  • E-mail is an efficient way to communicate and get some questions answered.
  • Be knowledgeable about the curriculum.
  • Provide information needed to help students make informed decisions.
  • Much information is available on the website.
  • Provide assistance in developing short-term and long-term educational objectives.
  • Share opportunities with students about scholarships, internships and employment.

 

Meeting with an Advisor

  • Schedule an appointment to discuss important issues.
  • Be prepared for advisement sessions with your advisor.
  • Pick up your student folder in BH364 when coming to an appointment.
  • Bring completed "early enrollment" forms when coming to discuss enrollment.
